Wilkes Literacy’s programs support adults in Wilkes County that need Basic Education (reading, writing, math), High School Equivalency (earning a diploma), or English Language Learning. We also serve children with literacy summer camps in low-income communities. Wilkes Literacy’s programs are FREE to Wilkes County residents. Your Wordle tournament entry is about one dollar a day to support literacy programs that change lives!
What is the grand prize?

What do I need?
1. Daily access to Wordle through the NY Times Games App (check your app store) or the New York Times Wordle website (Click here for the Wordle link)
2. Daily access to edit a shared Google Sheet through Google Apps (link emailed to you by Wilkes Literacy). Google apps are free.

How does it work?
Wordle contestants sign up online by filling out the form below and can donate the entry fee online with a credit card, debit card, PayPal, or Venmo account. Apple Pay, Google Pay, Cash, and Check donations are also available on-site at the Wilkes Literacy Office during office hours. All donations are tax deductible.
Contestants must play the official New York Times Wordle game. This is easiest with the NY Times Games App on a mobile device with a free NY Times Games account. You do not need a paid account with NYT Games to play Wordle and see your statistics. Wordle can also be played on a web browser on a computer.
If a person wishes to enter the Wordle Tournament without using a free account, they can email a daily screenshot of their Wordle results to wilkesliteracy@gmail.com .
Each person will be assigned a spot on a shared Google Sheet with a group of no more than 25 per group. Google Sheets links will be emailed on June 30. If you want to “compete” with another friends or family member on the same Google sheet, we can accomodate that request.
Each person must register as an individual.
Participants must email a screen shot of their Wordle statistics on either June 29 or 30 to wilkesliteracy@gmail.com before the tournament begins. You can view your stats by clicking the bar graph on the top right corner of Wordle. If you don’t have any Wordle statistics because you’re new to Wordle, no problem! Just send in a screenshot of your blank statistics.

Play Wordle! Please be honest and don’t use any outside help.
From July 1 - July 31 players are responsible to record their daily score on the assigned Google Sheet. If you get the word in one try, write a 1. Two tries, write a 2, and so on. If you don’t get the word, you will write a 7. If you miss a day, write in a 7.
Please be careful to enter your daily score with YOUR name and not interfere with other contestant scores.
The contestant with the lowest score on July 31 will be asked to email a screenshot of their Wordle stats to confirm their score. The contestant with the confirmed lowest score is the winner! We will shout out our winner on social media (with permission).
