Change the world by changing a life.
Wilkes Literacy needs volunteers committed to sharing the power of literacy with those in our community. We love our volunteers and provide opportunities to serve in a variety of roles. Our volunteer opportunities are very flexible when it comes to days and hours - we will work with your schedule! Here are some ways you can partner with us as a volunteer:
Senior Reading Volunteer - Wilkes Literacy is excited to partner with Westwood Hills Nursing and Rehabilitation Center to provide volunteers to read to senior adults. This is a wonderful way to give the gift of reading to seniors who may not be able to read on their own. Our volunteers read a few hours to seniors at Westwood Hills on either a weekly or bi-monthly basis.
Adult Learning Tutors - If you have the desire to help another adult grow their literacy skills, we would love to train you as a tutor in our adult literacy one-on-one program. Wilkes Literacy will provide you with training and resources if you have the desire to serve as a literacy tutor.
Event Volunteer - Do you love meeting new people and would be excited about sharing the message of Wilkes Literacy? We would love to have you join us during seasonal community events as a volunteer.
